Earthquake Vulnerability Assessment of SC Expatriate Buildings

Introduction:

The aim of this report was to assess seismic vulnerability of residential buildings, which have been rented by Save the Children at Budanilkantha. The report contains structural performance levels of buildings and recommendations as a result of the study of design and drawing, physical verification, structural analysis and evaluation in reference to standards, codes and practices and earthquake resistant design criteria.

 

Objective of Study

The main objective of the task is to evaluate the seismic safety of the existing buildings with recommendations for increasing the seismic safety of the targeted buildings.

 

Scope of the Study

The scope of the work for assessment is as follows:

  • Conduct a survey to determine the structural characteristics of the buildings
  • Assess earthquake vulnerability of the buildings by qualitative method
  • Modeling and structural analysis (both linear and non linear) of buildings
  • Prepare the report detailing procedures and presenting findings and recommendations
