Seismic vulnerability assessment and structural evaluation of Padmakanya Multiple Campus – PK Campus

Introduction

The report is to assess a seismic vulnerability of two hall of Padmakanya Multiple campus located on two extreme side of main campus building at Baghbazar, Kathmandu and to make recommendation on structural safety.  The Management of the campus has requested Centre of Resilient Development (CoRD) to study the structural performance of main building and halls adjacent to main building as it was designed and constructed about 50 year back without consideration of earthquake load.

 

Objective

The main objective of the task is to evaluate the seismic safety of the existing main building and halls with recommendations for increasing the seismic safety of the targeted building.

 

Scope of Work

The scope of the work for assessment is as follows:

  • Conduct a survey to determine the structural characteristics of the building.
  • Assess the structural earthquake vulnerability of the buildings by qualitative method.
  • Modeling and structural analysis (both linear and non linear) of building
  • Prepare the report detailing procedures and presenting findings and recommendations.
